A real growth area for Benefitz is the printing and production of books. With our own extensive printing and finishing plant in our North Shore (Auckland) factory combined with our expertise and offshore printing contacts we can provide the total solution for entities wishing to print and self-publish books economically. Smaller quantities can be produced locally and larger quantities offshore. We were thrilled to recently help Nadia Lim with producing her latest cook book titled "Fresh Start Feel Good”. The 256 page section sewn fully cased flexi-covered book is described as offering… "a delicious, no-fuss approach to enjoying everyday food that’ll help you lose weight and keep it off. All recipes are packed with more goodness and under 450 calories, so you’ll be enjoying a lighter, healthier twist on delicious favourites without sacrificing flavour”. As would be expected, the print run for this book was significant. For more information on the book visit... https://nadialim.com/fresh-start-feel-good/
We love getting involved in local events! We created this main stage signage for the Sunsetter Food, Wine and Music Festival at Smales Farm, at a finished size of 13m wide by a metre high. The logo was cut from 4mm ACM sheets on Benefitz Router, and we printed the graphics on self-adhesive vinyl and mounted to the ACM letters - a very simple and cost effective way to produce 3D signage that creates such big impact. The signage is now in storage to be used again at next year’s event.
This massive mural was installed by our team in the brand new orangutan area at Auckland Zoo. Standing at 18m wide x 3.7m high, the supplied imagery was printed in drops and applied expertly by our signage team.
The NZ Breakers basketball team needed some balustrade covers to use for advertising during home matches. The Benefitz team printed and formed 12 of these double sided fabric sleeves that went over the balustrades. They were sewn into a pillow case which slid over the glass, showing sponsor branding and logos on both sides. These prints were up to 12 metres long! These were then installed throughout the stadium on game nights to give the NZ Breakers sponsors some great branding presence.
These Point of Sale (POS) Mats were done for Mastercard for use at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) at Westhaven. Each POS EFTPOS Machine had one of these printed mats branded for Mastercard. The Benefitz team printed these on our 3.2 metre Vutek EFI LED Flatbed Printing Machine on a non-slip floor mat substrate which provides the perfect solution for counter top mats at the bar or reception as they are waterproof and do not slide on the surface. This was a great product for Mastercard to advertise their brand at the place where transactions were being made. This project demonstrates our ability to print on any substrate.
At Benefitz we love the variety of projects that we get involved in. We undertook this recent project out at the Auckland International Airport in the Duty Free area. Our client was Feature Landscapes who were doing the interesting project that involved plantings to make the stand come alive for their client, Snowberry.
Our involvement included the printing and installation of the circular bulkhead, prints for four sides of a pillar, lightbox prints and printed floor decals. We also constructed a frame to accommodate clear acrylic prints and formed a hanging display box that was printed on e-flute and machine cut to shape on our Zund cutter. Installation was done between midnight and 6am.
“I love this project as it is something different where a number of our printing methods and machines were used,” explains Sean Hawkins, Benefitz Account Manager for the project. “It is awesome to see everything come together in a situation where we only had one chance at install in a certain timeframe. The Benefitz team made it happen and the client was extremely happy.”
Fusion Entertainment wanted a unit made to display a time line showing 10 years of marine stereo systems. Benefitz came up with the concept of making a box with all power hidden inside with the stereo units on the face. The top blade is illuminated using RGB Led lights with the logo being etched into the clear Perspex to catch the light and make the logo shine bright green. The unit sits 1.8m long with the green LED lights underneath to give the illusion of the box floating.
We recently designed and produced two varieties of Point of Sale Counter Stands for Good Health. These were printed full colour on the Benefitz B2 JetSX Inkjet Digital Press, UV glossed and diecut in-house.
“With our range of printing and cutting technology we now have a solution for just about all display requirements that are cut to shape,” explains Benefitz Account Manager Paul Barratt. “There was an existing dieline for the common outer for both units and we custom-made new dielines for the specific requirements of the products that the respective units hold.”
These units were also flat packed for distribution by the Benefitz team. As the end-user was required to assemble the stands, we also designed and printed an easy visual guide that went with them, to show them exactly how easily the stands can be assembled.
Our ability to provide the complete service – design, print, finish and despatch – was on display with this 24 Page Trade Day Brochure we produced recently for BNT. Working closely with the customer, we designed the brochure that includes a high number of images. Then in excess of 20,000 copies were printed to meet a critical deadline on our volume offset machines.
"The design was quite a process due to the range of product shots and related information,” explained Benefitz Account Manager Blake Douglas. "But once this design work was completed, and approved, we had to get the 24-pager printed fairly quickly to meet the BNT distribution deadline. Our print team worked really well to get this big run printed so we could stitch, trim, pack and deliver on time for the customer. I understand we had both of our five colour Komori volume offset presses on the project which was great. The customer was stoked."
We wanted to make a big impact for My Food Bag to showcase their new "MADE" product range. Our team designed the concept, layout and signage for the 7.2 x 3m stand, creating and installing a backdrop banner, acrylic sigage, cut-out logo signs and over three metres of 3D logo signs with palight facing for the 7.2 x 3m stand.
A lot of this signage will be able to be reused at other events or in the My Food Bag office. Everything was produced within 2-3 days and we installed everything on the day prior to the show opening.
At Benefitz we have carved out quite a niche in printing shorter run books. It is a growing market. We recently printed 250 copies of this title for The Booksmiths. It’s a quality hard cover cased in book, 230mm by 170mm in size.
“The combination of our high quality short-run printing capability, and our finishing machinery – laminating, binding etc. – means we can do this total job in house,” says Benefitz book specialist Kent Bowyer-Sidwell. “Within our team we have considerable knowledge of printing and publishing which makes the whole process easy for those wishing to have their shorter run books printed. And we love doing it.”
We recently produced this very high quality case bound company profile for Phantom Billstickers. They approached us due to the fact we could print and finish small quantities of the high quality 44 page wide format book they desired. We printed a total of 220 of the 340mm x 240mm book, with 20 finished as case bound hard cover books and 200 as PUR bound books. The books also required laminating, diecutting, gold foiling and included translucent sheets printed with white.
“This project used all three press mediums we have in our smaller format plant with some tricky finishing,” says Benefitz book specialist Kent Bowyer-Sidwell. “Presses used for the job were our Xerox Iridesse, our Komori Offset 5-colour and our JetSX InkJet Press to produce a superb showcase corporate brochure for Phantom Bill stickers, the happy customer.”
We love it when we take projects through from concept to delivery and this was the case with this company profile for Takapuna based MSC, whom have been Benefitz customers for many years. Our team undertook the copywriting for the 24 page landscape profile, as well as the design and then it was printed and finished on our volume printing machinery, high speed folder and stitching line.
“MSC do some pretty high-end consulting engineering work and were keen to highlight some of these projects in their company profile,” says Benefitz Account Manager Blake Douglas. “So the document needed to be great quality which was achieved with good design and printing workmanship. The finished printed item includes a laminated and spot UV cover with spot UV used throughout as well to highlight key quotes.”
This client approached the Benefitz team to help with marketing material for the Bremner Ridge Residential & Lifestyle Development at Flatbush in south east Auckland. The range of items we produced showed our versatility, including billboard skins, advertising trailers, the wrapping of temporary buildings (portacoms) with graphics, and also printing corflute signage and interesting A3 size sales brochures.
“I am excited about this project as it really showed that we were able to produce everything in-house,” explains Benefitz Account Manager Grant Young. “This is one of our strengths at Benefitz. The client was extremely happy with the outcome.”
The brief for the Benefitz team was that Waipareira were going to hold a company conference and required a document that clearly outlined what each of the departments contributed within the organisation. It needed to look and feel great. Led by Account Manager Paul Barratt, the Benefitz crew provided options and in consultation with the Waipareira marketing team settled on a solution. This very much revolved around the power of the Benefitz short run digital printing and finishing capability. The finishing for the six items included: PUR Binding, soft touch Velvet lamination, UV overglossing, diecutting, hand forming and shrink wrapping for final presentation. There were five PUR Bound Journals and a covering document that secured these in a very professional presentation.
“We were under an extremely tight deadline,” says Paul Barratt. “Waipareira took delivery just in time for their conference. They didn’t think we would make the deadline, but they were thrilled, the final product exceeded their expectations. It just showed what a fantastic resource we have in-house at Benefitz.”
The Benefitz team has recently designed and produced a prototype of a Point of Sale Product Display Unit for Danny’s. The production of these type of units have recently become very easy with the installation of the new Benefitz Zund G3 L-3200 automated cutter, finisher and router from Switzerland.
“The neat thing about this project is it is now very easy and cost-effective for us to produce these display units due to having the Zund automated cutter,” explains Benefitz director Mike Nolan. “We’ve always been good at designing and printing them, now we can cut them to shape very easily. This particular stand is printed from one sheet of E/B flute cardboard, double sided and cut to shape on the Zund. The customer plans to order 100 of them and is thrilled with the prototype.”
Channel Magazine is the monthly community magazine for the Benefitz home patch – the sunny North Shore. The Benefitz crew create all the content for the magazine, design it, and follow it through to 36,500 printed copies that are all distributed monthly within a 7-10 day window. They all go, with only our sample copies left – it’s a big monthly project!
“Next month we will publish our 100th issue which represents the start of our 10th year of publishing,” explains Benefitz MD Aidan Bennett proudly. “We are hugely proud of what we have achieved with the magazine – in print and online. It’s a pretty valued part of monthly life on the Shore and unashamedly highlights all the great things happening in our little slice of paradise.”
Benefitz recently played a part by producing and installing signage and display items at NZ Cricket’s head office in Auckland. This included large printed wall graphics, 3D logos, printed graphics on meeting room windows and the creation of a ‘Gallery of the Greatest’ display using various signage items and supplied items – helmut, stumps, bat, ball etc.
“I was particularly proud of the way we came up with signage solutions for the Gallery of the Greatest," says Account Manager Rhys Lloyd, who led the project for Benefitz. “NZ Cricket’s design agency supplied a 2d rendering and our team came up with ways of bringing the supplied drawings to life by fabricating a wide range of sign and display solutions depicting NZ Cricket awards and finding ways to suitably hang the supplied items. The entire project scope involved lots of printed graphics and many fabricated items – all installed by our sign team.”
The Benefitz team produced large format printed items to promote the show, also a large nine metre wide hanging banner to act as a backdrop for the show, and a complete 130 square metre floor graphic which was applied by the Benefitz sign team. We also printed the programme for the show.
“The thing I most like about this project is the school came to us looking for a solution to a problem,” says Benefitz director Robert Johnson. “The stage needed to be cleared the day after the production finished to make way for the school’s 150th festivities. So their usual method of painting the auditorium floor was not an option. It was great we could provide the short term floor adhesive solution that we could apply and then remove quickly. At the end of the day the school was very satisfied with our all round solution for the show. It was a thrill to then also help with items for the 150th Celebration.”
The Benefitz XL printing team recently printed seat covers on a cotton-linen blend fabric using our fabric printing machinery.
“This project really demonstrated our ability to print vibrantly on fabric,” says Account Manager Sean Hawkins. “After we had printed the fabric it was sent to an upholsterer to be made into bench seats and bench back rests to go into Mexicali restaurants. We were really happy with the way this turned out, the image is vibrant and the fabric still feels soft. The fabric can be washed and is very durable after being heat cured by our XL print team.”
The team at Benefitz recently assisted with the signage at a new store called The Seafood Collective. There was a whole range of interior and exterior signage, including big printed images – all produced and installed by our sign team. An interesting new feature was the use of LED Silicone Neon to create a neon effect on the exterior signage.
“This is another first for Benefitz with an innovative and cost-effective solution for the customer,” says Benefitz director Dallas Bennett. “The client wanted something that was different and would stand them apart from what was around them. We used this new LED Silicone Neon product with an 8mm lamp by 16mm high and it blazes bright and looks great."
The team at Lovely by Skin Institute needed a great looking display that could be adapted to suit different spaces in a variety of locations. It had to be easy to put up, pack down and easy to transport. Our clever designers combined with our Signage/XL team to produce the 3m x 3m printed floor, a fabric backdrop stand, plinth sign and a fabricated table with printed skin. All the items pack down into carry bags and boxes for easy travel.
Ballistics thought it was time to update their shop front sign of over 10 years! Benefitz had the solution to jazz this up. This sign spanning 4.8m wide was cut 20mm signex board with an ACM face using the Benefitz CNC router. LED lights were used to illuminate the sign. The sign was installed by the Benefitz team, 150mm off the shop front so the lights give a halo effect at night time, with the BALLISTICS word being illuminated too. Overall transforming this shop front into a new sleek design!
We love bringing storefronts to life with fresh signage. Our Benefitz designers and signage crew teamed up to create this new look for Wettie Spearfishing & Wetsuits for their move to new premises, and we're stoked with the finished result!
The Benefitz team designed, produced and installed window graphics, plinths, carpark and entrance signs and 3D Acrylic signage to give the building a whole new feeling.
Benefitz was given the task to print the winners names and details on the 2018 Effie Awards Trophies. The Effie Awards Trophies were supplied for Benefitz to then print details black on the gold trophies and white on the Grand Effie trophy. This job was made possible by having the versatile A2 flatbed inkjet promo printer. A jig was made to hold the trophies flat while the details were printed.

When three of the North Shore's progressive business associations – Devonport, Takapuna & Milford – got together to create a brand with a goal to increase tourism visitors to their area they engaged the Benefitz team to help them create the brand and then roll out the initial items needed at launch-date. These items included the logo/brand, a website and then a 12 page DL brochure to put in the hands of tourists. The Benefitz Account Management, Design, Web Development and Print teams all played important parts in helping to bring this all to reality!
Our signage team created and applied a range of signage solutions throughout the brand new B:HIVE building at Smales Farm on the sunny North Shore of Auckland. Adhesive graphics were applied to meeting rooms, pods and phone booths for privacy, as well as tenant logos and safety strips on glass throughout the space.
