Magazines Galore!

A big growth area for Benefitz over the past 12 months has been the amount of magazines and publications we are now printing on our volume offset machinery.

During the year we have picked up the printing of four monthly magazine titles. Management magazine, Admedia magazine, Onfilm magazine and FMCG magazine. These are leading trade publications in their particular sectors.

The latest issue of Management magazine was 100 plus pages and in excess of 10,000 copies were printed. This issue featured the Top200 Awards, a yearly awards programme that rewards the achievements of New Zealand’s top business people.

AdMedia is the 40-50 page monthly industry publication for the New Zealand advertising industry. We also print a weekly newsletter called Fastline which is distributed to the advertising industry.

Onfilm is the monthly 30-40 page magazine for the New Zealand film industry.

FMCG is the magazine of the fast moving consumer goods industry. It averages around 60 plus pages per month and is popular in this busy industry sector.

These titles are printed for publishing company Mediaweb. We have also printed issues of quarterly food trade magazine Grill/Foodservice for this publisher.

In addition to these titles, during 2009 we also designed and printed a range of other magazines and publications. These included the 6th annual issue of NorthSide magazine – the 100 page plus magazine of the North Harbour Club. We also continued to print the quarterly issues of CoverNote, the magazine of the New Zealand general insurance industry.

Benefitz is also thrilled to be entrusted with the design, production and printing of Kaleidoscope, the Kristin School magazine. In the later part of the year our presses were flat-out printing yearbooks for many of our local schools.

“Our Komori five colour offset press just chews through the printing of these magazines in no time,” explains Benefitz Director Robert Johnson. “It can print up to 15,000 sheets per hour so can knock over each of these magazines very efficiently.”

And another thing…

The improvement of the Benefitz environmental footprint has taken another huge step forward recently with the installation of a processless plate system for this volume printing machinery. The Screen PT-R4300 platesetter has been developed specifically for those who demand the very highest in both print and environmental performance. It requires no finishing unit, and the chemistry, water and waste by-products of traditional plate production are eliminated completely.
