Flatbed Digital Printer

Up to 1270dpi!  Up to 100 square metres per hour!   Prints white!  Prints on substrates up to 50mm thick!

THE HP Scitex FB6100 Flatbed printing machine has had a massive impact in the market since installation in 2009 as it can print up to 100 square metres an hour, has superb resolution and can print white.

The FB6100 prints to a resolution of up to 1270 dpi. It can produce a wide range of brilliant 8-color output with 28 picoliter ink drops. The printing system, with this small 28 picoliter drop size and accurate registration, produces  incredible high-quality images. The FB6100 also converts from a flatbed to a roll-fed printer. It will print at up to 100 square metres an hour (4-colour) and 52 square metres an hour (8-colour). It can print flatbed images up to 3.2 metres x 2 metres. The FB6100 can print on both rigid and flexible media. It will print directly on virtually any rigid, thick, or heavy specialty media, including glass, wood, metals, or more conventional media such as foam board,  PVC, corflute and signage board up to 50mm thick. A massive advantage is its ability to print white ink. We can now use white ink as a spot colour for reproducing the white elements on an image.

“The machine has opened up new opportunities for us in many different areas,” advises Benefitz Director Dallas Bennett. “With a speed of up to 100 square metres an hour and a resolution of 1270dpi this machine can compete with screen-printing and the quality is superior.”

“Printing is also taking over many parts of the signage industry and this new flatbed is speeding up this change. It can print on virtually anything that is less than 50mm thick so the possibilities are limitless. Since installation we have printed directly on to lots of signage substrates like ACM board and signboard with excellent results. These can be protected with coatings to provide added protection in harsh environments or for long-term signage. There are obviously economies to be had by printing directly on to substrates and not having to go through the traditional and more time consuming process of printing onto adhesives, laminating and then applying to signboard."
